Change of Personal Seal

Required Documentation

  3. Fee: KRW 600

Restrictions

• The width and length of the seal must be more than 7 mm and less than 30 mm.
• Seals should not be made of materials that make varying impressions, such as copper or rubber.
• The name on the seal must be identical with the name on the Certificate of Foreign Resident Registration.
• The transcription of the name in Korean is acceptable.
• In principle, only the characters of the name in the Certificate of Foreign Resident Registration are allowed on the seal. Company names or job titles, such as CEO, lawyer, etc., are not allowed (Article 10-3, Enforcement Decree of the Certification of Seal Imprint Act).
• Characters and signs that describe the pronunciation of Hanzi (Chinese) characters cannot be registered.
• Seals that bear wear and tear cannot be registered (Article 10, Enforcement Decree of the Certification of Seal Imprint Act).
• Minors cannot register their seal without the consent of their legal representative.

Issuance of Certificate of Seal Impression

In person

• Fee: KRW 600 per copy

  1. Proxy with confirmation from an overseas diplomatic agency (bearing a signature or seal from the mandatory)
  2. Certificate of Foreign Resident Registration of the mandatory
  3. ID of the proxy
  4. Proxy Issuance of Certificate of Seal Impression
  5. Input the date on which the proxy received the request from the mandatory in the “Date” section.
  6. Individuals whose stay period has expired are ineligible for registration of seal impression.
