해운대구는 우리 지역에 살고 있는 외국인들이 한국 사회에 친근함을 느끼고, 한국에 체류하는 동안 색다른 추억을 만들 수 있도록 하기 위해 이들에게 순한국어 이름을 지어 주는 사업을 2달간의 준비기간을 거쳐 2011년부터 추진한다.
대상은 해운대구에 이사하고 체류지 변경신고를 하기 위해 구를 방문하는 외국인과 구에서 운영 및 지원하는 외국인 한글교실에서 한국어를 배우고 있는 수강생들이다.
구는 이를 위해 순한국어 이름 100개를 자체 선정, 순한국어 이름을 갖고자 하는 외국인에게 3~4개의 적합한 이름을 제시하고 그 뜻을 설명한 후, 외국인이 이 중 하나를 선택하는 방식으로 진행할 계획이다.
구는 특히, 외국인 한글교실 수강생의 경우 순한국어 이름으로 상호간에 호칭함으로써 한국어에 대해 보다 친근함을 느낄 수 있을 것으로 기대한다.

In order to make foreigners who live in Haeundae-gu feel more familliar to Korean and Korean society and have a pleasant memory during their stay in Korea, the district office is going to launch the Lets get a Korean name project in 2011 after a preparation period of 2 months.
Haeundae-gu will suggest appropriate Korean names to foreigners who visit the district office to report the change of their residence and the students of Korean classes in Haeundae-gu.
During the preparation period, Haeundae-gu will come up with 100 Korean names which have good meanings and translate the names and their meanings into English. Among 100 Korean names 3 or 4 names will be given to a foreigner for its selection.
Especially, the students in Korean classes will have great opportunities to become more familiar to Korean through calling each other by Korean names.
