Located in U 1-dong, Seonhwangsa Shrine is dedicated to Kim Hee-su, an official who distinguished himself in the service of Joseon during the Japanese invasions of Korea. Kim was one of the defenders of the Dongnae Fortress during the early days of the Japanese Invasion of Korea (Imjin War; 1592). After the war, the government recognized his service by bestowing a posthumous rank and enshrining his tablet with other fallen defenders of Busan in Chungnyeolsa Shrine.
In April 1994, his ancestral tablet was relocated to his gravesite with a new shrine built to honor his spirit.
A memorial ceremony is conducted every second Sunday of lunar October in his memory.
